The Co-op’s Board of Directors is seeking interested individuals to join! Stop by the Membership Desk, located on the second floor of the Co-op, to pick up an application or download a copy online:

What is the Co-op Board of Directors? The Board of Directors is made up of Co-op owners like you who are elected by the membership to represent them in the oversight of the Co-op. There are seats to be filled in the upcoming election, which will conclude at the Co-op’s Annual Meeting in April, 2025!

What Does the Board Do? Make policy & financial decisions to ensure that People’s Co-op remains strong and healthy, and is responsive to the needs of the ownership. Responsible for hiring and evaluating the Co-op’s General Manager, who handles the day-to-day operations of the business. Board members are eligible for monthly stipends of up to $150.

What is the Time commitment? Approximately 5-10 hours per month up to a 3 year term. Most meetings are held Mondays after 5pm and directors are encouraged to attend events a few times a year such as the Annual Meeting & Annual Birthday Party.

What Qualities Are Needed in a Board Member? Collaborative: Enjoy working as a team. Accept and support Board decisions. Willing to admit mistakes. Collegial: Listen carefully. Speak (and email) cordially and respectfully. Cooperative: Recognize that opinions can legitimately vary, even on crucial issues. Strive to see others’ points of view and reach workable solutions. Strategic Thinker: Be future oriented, endeavor to see the big picture and interested in the continued success of People’s Co-op. Patient: Board work is not always fast paced! Experience on a board, in business or in finance can be helpful, but is not required. Current board members will help you get up to speed!

Deadlines & Dates All applications must be submitted in person at the Membership Desk, located on the second floor of the Co-op, no later than 5pm on Friday, December 6, 2024.

Monthly Board Meetings: Committees meet every 2nd Monday of the month @ 5:30 on Zoom. Board Meetings are every 4th Monday of the month @ 6pm on Zoom.
